In 2015, I co-founded Amsterdam Black Women — a community for Black women and femmes from across the diaspora building their lives through Europe. What started as a monthly brunch meetup grew, almost organically, into a collective of over 1,300 members across the Netherlands.
I helped conceptualize, build, and grow ABW from the ground up — the events, the infrastructure, the culture of the group. But what I'm most proud of isn't the numbers. It's the relationships. Besties, lovers, and collaborators have found each other at our events. I’ve encountered ABW members in the most random corners of the world. You probably have too.
