a Seat at the Table

Versal Journal invited me to be a guest curator for the 4th edition of their bi-monthly live stage of art and culture, Verso. Solange’s album “A Seat at the Table” had just been released and I choose it as my thematic springboard. I wanted to analyze it as a cultural expression in response to a political moment. To ensure local relevancy, I collaborated with Dutch poet, Smita James to curate the evening. The evening opened with a read editorial and ended with a standing ovation. It was a huge success, drawing a crowd bigger than the bi-monthly event normally sees.
